Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle at Home with Oceanside’s Fantastic Three Streams!

Green Oceanside Waste Wizard
Not sure what goes where? The Waste Wizard can tell you how something can be reused, repaired, donated, recycled, or disposed of. Simply type the item you are trying to recycle in the box below!
Resident’s Guide to Zero Waste
Check out the City’s Resident’s Guide to Zero Waste for more information about ‘What Goes Where’ and free services available for residents. Starting January 1, 2024, you have the power to make a positive impact by including food scraps and food-soiled paper in your green cart, now referred to as organics.
Holiday Schedule (One-Day Delay for Residential Customers)
If your normal service day occurs on or after an observed holiday, your service day will occur one day later that same week. Please see below for the list of observed holidays. Please note: If a holiday lands on a weekend (Sunday or Saturday), there are no delays.
Oceanside’s Three Cart Sizes
Oceanside residents have various size options to choose from to make it easier than ever to utilize blue recycling and green organics carts, and reduce landfill collection. Waste Management provides a 32-gallon gray cart for weekly trash collection. You may request a 64 or 96-gallon cart for an additional charge. Recycling, organics, and landfill carts are available in three cart sizes: 96, 64, and 35 gallons. If you have questions about service rates or would like to request a cart exchange, contact Waste Management at (760) 439-2824.
Oceanside Solid Waste and Recycling Rates
The City of Oceanside has transitioned billing of landfill, recycling, and organics services to Waste Management. All Oceanside residents are invoiced monthly for waste services by Waste Management. Information on service rates and how to pay your bill can be found on Waste Management’s website.
Recycle Right and Say No to Contaminants!
If one or more of your carts are identified as overloaded, or materials are placed in the wrong cart resulting in contamination, you will receive a "Notice of Non-Collection" and your cart will not be serviced. Contamination can negatively impact an entire truckload. Please review the acceptable material list for each cart to prevent contamination. Residents will be required to remove and/or offload the overfilled material and place the carts out for collection on the following week. If additional service is needed, please contact Waste Management at (760) 439-2824. A fee may apply.
