Our Services

The City of Oceanside Parks and Recreation Department strives to provide our diverse community's youth with safe recreational environments through our wide variety of fun and affordable youth programs like our After-School Program and Day Camps. 

During the school year, kids can join us for our engaging After-School Program! When school's out, join us for SUNsational Summer Camp, and Spring Break Camp where kids get the opportunity to meet new friends, play games, and explore San Diego County on field trips. The After-School and camp programs are run at three Recreation Centers: Melba Bishop Recreation Center, John Landes Recreation Center, and Joe Balderrama Recreation Center. 

Looking for a Summer Camp at the beach? Beach and Ball Camp is held at the Junior Seau Beach Community Center. Kids attending this camp have a daily opportunity to swim in the ocean next to the beautiful Oceanside Pier.

After-School Program

Our After-School program is for elementary aged students ages 6 to 11. During the program participants are kept busy through instructor lead games, activities, and crafts. In addition to the exciting group activities offered, participants receive homework help from our skilled recreation leaders during the designated homework time. At select locations kids will also have the opportunity to go on field trips to local attractions like Boomers, the movie theater, and the zoo.

*Van pickup is only offered at the Melba Bishop After-School program from Bonsall West Elementary and Nichols Elementray. Other locations offer walking pick-up from Del Rio, Casita, and Laurel. 

*The After-School program at John Landes follows the VUSD school calendar. All other locations follow the OUSD school calendar.

Sunsational Summer Camp

The Sunsational Summer Camp is a fun and safe way to keep your children age's 6-12 active throughout the summer. Sunsational Camp includes fun games and activities based on the weekly theme. Each week campers will also head out on a fun-filled field trip adventure to a variety of local attractions throughout the San Diego County.

Beach & Ball Camp

Is your child interested in spending summer at the beach? Then Beach & Ball Summer Camp is just what you need! Located at the Junior Seau Beach Community Center, Beach & Ball Camp is the perfect way to keep your children safe and active this summer. At camp participants will learn new skills for a different sport each day of the week. Afternoons are filled with crafts, raffles, competitions, and lots of time spent at the beautiful Oceanside Beach.

Spring Break Camp

Spring Break Camp is perfect for kids who like to stay busy all day. This camp is action packed with themed activities and a field trip, ending the week with a BBQ Movie Day! *Note: Field trips and session dates vary by location.
