Age-Friendly Action Plan

The City of Oceanside joined the AARP Age-Friendly Network on April 7, 2024. The City is working with the Center for Excellence in Aging & Longevity at the San Diego State University Social Policy Institute to develop a 5-year action plan. The City hosted several listening and action planning sessions  to gather community input about needs and priorities that would make Oceanside more livable.  This 5-year action plan was developed based on information gathered during the public outreach.

Tree Lighting Ceremony

Bring your holiday cheer and join us for this family-friendly event!

The annual Tree Lighting Ceremony is on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Regal Cinema Plaza in downtown Oceanside (401 Mission Avenue).  Join the holiday spirit and take a picture with Santa, make holiday crafts, enjoy dance performances and free milk and cookies (while supplies last).  

4:30 p.m.: Local dance groups perform

5:00 p.m.: Craft booth offered and activities begin

5:45-6:00 p.m.: Santa Claus arrives in an antique fire truck and the countdown to the tree lighting begins

6:00-8:00 p.m.: Bring your camera and take a photo with Santa Claus and enjoy the Sunset Market

Free parking at Oceanside Transit Center garage, Oceanside Civic Center Garage, and low-cost parking ($3 for two hours or $5 for all day) at 371 N. Cleveland Street.  Better yet, walk, ride a bike or take public transit!
